NELSON POINT (CA), CA

Description

Nelson Point is open June 3, 2008 to September 1, 2008 with reservations; and open March 31, 2008 to June 2, 2008, and again September 2, 2008 to September 15, 2008 on a first come first serve walk-in basis. This campground is available for group rental on a reservation basis.

Reservations are not allowed for individual family camping during the peak season unless the entire campground is reserved. Nelson Point is located off Salt Creek Road south of Lakehead. The campground is forested and sits on the Sacramento Arm of Shasta Lake. The nearest boat launch is 6 miles away at Antler's and there is a daily $8.00 fee for use. Resorts nearby have watercraft rentals and marinas with fuel. The nearest store is 6 miles away in Lakehead. Wildlife is abundant in the area.

*Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. 2 night minimum on weekends. 3 night minimum on holidays.* Please bring your own drinking water. CAUTION: Wildlife frequent the area. All food must be kept in approved containers. Call the office between 8am and 4pm at (530) 275-8113 prior to arrival for the gate combination. Maximum capacity for group use is 75 people.

From Redding, California, remain on I-5 to Gilman Road. Go west to Salt Creek exit, and then north to Conflict Point Road (From the north, take Salt Creek exit and then go south to Conflict Point Road). Go approximately 1/2 mile to campground.
