NORTH BEACH CABIN (AK), AKDescriptionClick here for more cabin information and maps. 16'X16' A-Frame cabin that sleeps 8 people. This cabin was built in 1993 by volunteers from the US Coast Guard Air Station in Sitka and by local volunteers. The cabin is nestled just inside the forest fringe on the north beach of Shelikof Bay. It has a spectacular view of the cresting waves of the outside coast of the Gulf of Alaska and is surrounded by a hemlock and spruce forest adjacent to a sandy beach. The terrain is relatively flat and easy to explore. Cabin users should be prepared for noise from ATV riders who use the beach in front of the cabin.ATV use is restrict to beach and designated trails. Due to the dynamic nature of the shoreline at North Beach a 10 foot drop off has developed approximately 150 feet in front of the cabin. Use caution when accessing the beach. PROXIMITY: 1.5 miles north of Shelikof cabin, along beach. There are NO discounts for Golden Age/Passports for Alaska Cabin rentals. The person holding the reservation must be 18, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 -September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. A-frame cabin is equipped with sleeping loft, wooden bunks, table, benches, oil stove for heat, and an outhouse. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food. Cabin is uniquely accessible for all-terrain vehicles, with 36 miles of old logging roads for ATV and mountain biking. Cabin users should be prepared for noise from ATV riders who may use the beach in front of the cabin. Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone. boat, 45 minutes from Sitka to Mud Bay on the east side of
