Description

Just a few miles outside the Los Angeles metro area, Mountain Oak Campground is located in the Angeles National Forest is great for a quick weekend getaway. The campground is just 8 miles from Wrightwood, near Jackson Lake. Sites are shaded by Oak trees and Sugar Pines. Temperatures average in the low 80's on summer days with cool evenings. Activities include sightseeing, hiking, and picnicking.

It is close enough to Jackson Lake for campers to enjoy fishing, swimming and canoeing. The Lake is kept stocked by the Fish & Game department. Only canoes and blow-up boats are allowed on the Lake.

Mountain Oak Campground is open from late April to mid-November. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance, but must be made at least 4 days prior to your intended arrival date. There are 8 campsites total, some of these sites are available for first come first serve.

Firewood can be purchased from the host at Lake Campground nearby. During hot and dry summer months, fire restrictions are common and campfires may be prohibited. Please check for current fire restrictions with the Angeles National Forest at (661)296-9710.
