McCarthy Point Lookout is accessed over FS and private roads. Low clearance passenger cars are not recommended weather conditions and snow may cause early seasonal road closure or late spring opening. Lightning may be a hazard during storms. All users must contact Almanor R.D. to obtain lock and access information. Campfires are not allowed at any time.

A 2 night minimum stay is required. No electricity or portable water at this site. Trailers are not allowed Lookout is located within a wildlife refuge, no firearms allowed. This facility is "pack it in, pack it out" site. Please bring your own drinking water. You must walk approx 1000ft from parking lot to the site on a paved trail. This is a high cliff area exercise caution. Bears and other wildlife frequent in the area.
