Description

Located on Hasselborg Lake near the Big Shaheen cabin (approximately 100 yards away) on Admiralty Island, Little Shaheen cabin is a 1-room cabin that can sleep up to 6 people. The cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table and benches, is heated with an oil stove, and has an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. A skiff with oars is provided. Cabin users should bring personal flotation devices and may also choose to bring a small outboard motor (less than 10 horsepower due to wilderness regulations). Trails accessible from Hasselborg Lake go to Lake Guerin, Beaver Lake (both on the Canoe route), Lake McKinney, and Hasselborg River. The person holding the reservation must be at least 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is not allowed. Visitors are asked to carry out all that they bring in. There are no discounts for Golden Age or Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Access by floatplane or canoe and portage. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
