LOG JAM BAY CABIN (AK), AK

Log Jam Bay Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, wood and oil stove for heat, and an outhouse. Mattresses and cooking utensils are not provided. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear, and food.

Rowboat provided on lake, please bring life vests.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.

Same day reservations are allowed for this cabin.

Treat or boil water before consumption.

Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this.

Bring #1 oil for stove for heating, or use wood (not provided).

In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface (floatplanes cannot land). Please contact the local Forest Service Ranger District office for information prior to making reservations for these periods.

Cabin is located 85 miles Southwest of Cordova on the Northeast side of Stump Lake, Montague Island.

Access is by floatplane or wheel plane (45 minutes from Cordova, 45 minutes from Seward). Wheel planes land on outside beach strip at low tide. Beach landing area is 3/4 mile from the cabin. Floatplanes land on the lake next to the cabin.

Tides may affect access to this cabin. Please consult local tide tables.
