LEWIS CANYON (AZ), AZ

Description

Hiking, horseshoes, baseball field, and access to the White Mountain Trail System for non-motorized trail use only (bikes, horses, hikers). Non- potable water is available.

This campground was surrounded by the Rodeo-Chediski Fire in the summer of 2002. The inside loop of the campground has large, green ponderosa pine trees and was not impacted by the fire. The area around the campground was severely burned during the fire. The burned area presents various safety hazards, including stump holes, and falling limbs and trees. The remaining green trees within the campground have been sprayed with a pesticide to help protect them from bark beetles. For any additional questions, contact the Lakeside Ranger District at 928-368-2100.
