LAKE ALVA CAMPGROUND (MT), MT

Description

Lake Alva Campground is located approximately 11 miles north of the town of Seeley Lake via Highway 83 on the west side of the highway. The only sites available for reservation are group camp sites (#42 & #43). Reservations can be made no less than 4 days in advance and up to 360 days in advance. The elevation of this campground is about 4120 feet. General campground facilities include: day-use area, beach, swimming area (no lifeguard), picnic area, boat ramp and boat trailer parking, handicap accesible vault toilets, potable water, garbage dumpsters and recycling bins. The area is monitored by on-site campground hosts and has multiple daily law enforcement patrols. #42 has approximately 5 vehicle parking spaces (based on head-in or diagonal parking; parking area dimensions 55 feet wide and 24 feet deep with a 52 foot pad) and about 3 tent spaces. Parking is limited to what is designated for this site, please plan accordingly. A maximum of 25 people are allowed. Amenities at the site include: 1oversized group picnic table and firering. #43 has approximately 6 vehicle parking spaces (based on head-in or diagonal parking; parking area dimensions 75 feet wide and 22 feet deep) with about 4 tent spaces. Parking is limited to what is designated for this site, please plan accordingly. A maximum of 25 people are allowed. Amenities at the site include: 1 oversized group picnic table and firering. 39 standard family sites are also available in this campground on a first-come first-served basis. These sites are limited to a maximum of 10 people per standard site, with parking for vehicles limited to the designated parking pad for the site. Note: There is limited access during late fall thru spring; the entrance road into Lake Alva Campground is not plowed. Call ahead for information regarding the off-peak season. 406-677-2233

Alerts and Important Information

There are NO electricity, water or sewer hookups at this campground. *This campground has 39 first come-first served standard family sites available.* *Reservations are taken from 05/23/08 through 09/01/08. Sites may be available on a first come- first served basis when not reserved during the "season", and are available for first come-first served outside the reservation season.* Animal Alerts CAUTION: Bears may frequent the area. All food must be kept in approved containers. These containers are limtied to "certified bear resistant containers"; the trunk of your car or cab of your vehicle with the windows rolled all the way up; or tied up in a tree at least 10 feet up and 4 feet out from the bole of the tree. Overnight parking is limited to only as many vehicles as will fit on the pad for the designated unit; Lake Alva #42 = approximately 5 vehicle parking spaces (parking area dimension is 55 feet wide and 24 feet deep with a 52 foot pad going into the unit). Lake Alva #43 = approximately 6 vehicle parking spaces (parking area dimension is 75 feet wide and 22 feet deep). These parking areas may be used in any orientation as long as the vehicles do not blockor protrude into the roadway. There is a Food Storage Order in effect for the Seeley Lake Ranger District and adjacent Forest and Wilderness areas requiring the forest user to store their food stuffs in a bear resistant manner. From the junction of Montana Highway 200 and Montana Highway 83 (referred to locally as Clearwater Junction), travel north on Highway 83 for approximately 15 miles to the town of Seeley Lake, continue heading north on Highway 83 for about 11 miles, the entrance of Lake Alva Campground is located on the west side of the highway.
