LAGUNA (CA), CA

Description

Laguna Mountain Recreation Area is located at an elevation of 6,000 feet. Facilities provided include paved roads, showers, restrooms and telephone. The area includes hiking trails and a meadow. In the summer of 2000, a fence was constructed adjacent to Meadow Loop to protect the endangered Laguna Skipper Butterfly. If you have reserved Meadow Loop sites in the past, this fence may affect the way you traditionally recreated in this site. To protect the Laguna Skipper, campers cannot enter the area behind this fence. Your cooperation is essential in order to keep these campsites open. Special Programs: - Saturday evening events at the Amphitheater. - Children's activities on Saturdays. A fee of $2 per pet per day beginning with the second pet will be collected at the campground. (The first pet is free.)

Alerts and Important Information

  • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
  • First-come, first-served sites are available within the 4 day minimum advance booking period.
  • 2 night minimum weekend stay and 3 night minimum holiday stay.
  • Sites in Meadow loop are available all year round. Roadside and Shady Loop sites are unavalable from November 1 to March 31.
  • Fires are once again allowed in designated fire pits only.
  • Stop at entrance for campground information and site location.
  • Place confirmation number on dash board.
  • Maximum 8 people per site.
  • Maximum 2 vehicles per site
  • No refunds are given for bad weather.
  • An extra vehicle fee will be collected on site beginning with the 3rd vehicle.
  • The Forest Service is conducting a study on endangered butterflies. As a result of that study, sites 3, 5, 6, & 8 are restricted to 2 people per site.
  • Reservations are available year round.
  • Laguna is open year-round for reservations.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Quiet hours 10PM to 6AM.
  • Pets must be leashed.
  • This campground has first-come, first-served sites.
  • Reservations are also available at nearby Burnt Rancheria when Laguna is fully booked.

    We've had a ground squirrel population explosion. Please be aware that you may be relocated to other ares if pest control is taking place in the area you've reserved.


    The posted rules and regulations must be followed or you will be asked to leave. This particularly applies in regard to campfires. Thank you.

    Located 50 miles east of San Diego, California. Take I-8 to Sunrise Highway Exit. Go approximately 13 miles to Laguna/El Prado Campground, just beyond the 26 mile marker. Stop at entrance for campground information and site location.
