KADAKE BAY CABIN (AK), AKDescriptionClick here for more cabin information and maps. The Kadake Bay Cabin is located at the mouth of Kadake Creek on northeastern Kuiu Island (pronounced CUE-you), inside a large tide flat. The surrounding terrain is a combination of grassy tidal flats and low-elevation old-growth forest. This is a modified hunter-style cabin equipped with 2 single and 2 double wooden bunks, an oil heater, woodstove, table, benches, and an outhouse. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags and pads, cookstove, cooking gear, food, and #1 heating oil. Firewood is generally provided, but is not guaranteed. Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone. (Latitude, Longitude): 56.78333, -133.98778 Located at the mouth of Kadake Creek on northeastern Kuiu Island. Access is by boat (13 miles from Kake), or floatplane (39 miles from Petersburg). Floatplanes generally land near the mouth of the bay and require up to a 2-mile hike across the tide flat. An 18' or higher tide is required for direct boat or floatplane access to the cabin.
