Description

JORDAN LAKE CABIN (AK) campground will be closed from Jan 1 - April 15, 2009, due to an admin hold.

Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, wood stove for heat and an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. The person holding the reservation for this cabin must be at least 18 years of age, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. There are NO discounts for Golden Age or Golden Passports for rentals. Proximity:Orton Ranch. Please stay on the trail when crossing this property. .Wildlife viewing of deer, black bear, marten, otter, mink, beaver and wolf. Fishing in Naha River for salmon and steelhead with resident trout. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. Old growth Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock Forest, access to river from cabin, easy access to inlet and outlet by rowing boat.12'X14' Pan- Abode cabin, two single/two double bunks, woodstove, outhouse, skiff with oars (skiff uses short-shaft motor not provided). Woodstove firewood is usually provided but not guaranteed.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.

Same day reservations allowed for this cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. In fall, winter, and early spring, this cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface (floatplane cannot land). Please contact the local Forest Service Ranger District office for information prior to making reservations during these periods.Water should be treated or boiled prior to drinking. All garbage and food must be packed out.

Approximately 15 miles from Ketchikan within the Naha Recreation Area. It is on the southwest shore of Jordan Lake along the Naha River Trail.

Access either by boating to Naha Bay and hiking 4 miles, or by floatplane to trail at Heckman Lake and hiking 2 miles to the cabin.
