JACKRABBIT MOUNTAIN (NC), NCDescriptionOpen from May 1 to September 29. Located approximately 6 miles east of Hayesville, North Carolina. The Campground is located on a peninsula of Lake Chatuge, which is an impoundment of the Hiawassee River. Lake Chatuge has more than 130 miles of shoreline and plenty of water for recreation.Facilities provided include fire rings, picnic table, lantern posts, gravel tent pads (in some sites) and hot showers. Other ammenities of the area include a paved boat ramp with floating dock, picnic shelters, amphitheatre, a picnic area and swimming beach with bath house. Local attractions include the Fires Creek area, Buck Creek rockhouding area, and the Georgia Mountain Fair which occurs in late July each year. Popular activities include boating, jet-skiing, swimming, fishing, and hiking. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationReservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.
Pets must be leashed and kept under control and quiet at all times. Holders of golden age or golden access permits must be present. Quiet hours are from 10:00pm to 7:00am. All campers should be alerted to the fact that effective immediately, anyone parking at the beach area ( the fee is for parking only) must pay the daily fee including registered campers. There are no sewer, water, or electric hookups at this campground; no dumping of black or gray water is permitted anywhere in the area except at the sanitary dump station. All equipment must fit on the site pad. Vehicles park in developed areas only. Additional Parking is remote. Getting There:Jackrabbit Mountain (NC)465 JACKRABBIT ROAD Hayesville NC 28904 GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 35.01028, -83.77028 From Hayesville, North Carolina: Take U.S. Hwy 64 east for 6.2 miles. Turn right onto NC 175 and go 2.5 miles. Turn right onto State Road 1155 which will turn into Forest Service Road # 248. From Hiawassee, Georgia: Take GA 75 north for about 3.5 miles where it turns into NC 175 and go an additional 1.5 miles. Turn left onto State Road 1155 which will turn into Forest Service Road #248.
