ITALIO RIVER CABIN (AK), AK

Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, oil stove for heat and an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.

Same day reservations are allowed for this cabin. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. Tides may affect access to this cabin. Please consult local tide tables. There are NO discounts for Golden Age and Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. The person holding the reservation must be 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. All garbage and food must be packed out.

Located 30 miles SE of Yakutat, cabin is on west bank of Hooligan Creek and is 1/2 mile from Old Italio River. Access is by wheeled plane on 1600 foot tidal flat airstrip. Airstrip may flood at extreme high tides or after heavy rains.
