INDIAN SCOTTY GROUP SITE (CA), CA

Description

This horse camp will not accept walk-in reservations, horse camp will be available for reservations available only online and through the Recreation Department at the Salmon/Scott Ranger District in Fort Jones (530-468-1209). The Indian Scotty Group Site is at 2,400 feet elevation. It is next to the Indian Scotty Campground and Scott River. Several Marble Mountain Wilderness trailheads are easily accessed from this site, including Lovers Camp, the main portal to Marble Valley and the Marble Rim. It is available for reservations generally from Memorial Day weekend to mid October. The Salmon-Scott River Ranger District, 530-468-5351, can be contacted for further information.

Alerts and Important Information

The Indian Scotty Group Site is designed for groups of up to 50 people. It features: a ring of picnic tables around a fire pit; serving tables; two accessible vault toilets; swing set; a general area for dispersed tent camping; RV camping permitted in the paved parking area; garbage pickup; scattered potable water faucets; gated entrance; group barbeque: and river access. No livestock is permitted in the site. Parking is limited.

Take Interstate 5 to Yreka, CA. Take the south Yreka exit "HWY 3" to Fort Jones, 18 miles. Turn right (west) on Scott River Road, between the Forest Service Office and grocery store, and go approximately 14 miles. You will come to the Indian Scotty Campground sign. Turn left (south)and cross the Scott River on the 44N45 Road. Go approximately 300 feet and turn right on the 44N53 Road toward the campground. Go past the campground entrance and next campground loop to the group site entrance.
