FIREWOOD ALERT!: Leave Your Firewood At Home! We need your help to protect our forests! A firewood quarantine has been established for much of the state of Virginia. In general, firewood can harbor insect pests under the bark and in the wood. The transport of infested firewood has been identified as a leading cause in the introduction of harmful forest insects into un-infested forest areas. The best way to prevent a new infestation of these invasive pests is to get your firewood AFTER arrival. Help us keep our parks pest free by leaving your firewood at home!

Description

Gunter Hill Campground offers the peaceful scene of trees and nature overlooking the backwaters of the Alabama River. The fishing is excellent, providing challenges for the master angler as well as the occasional cane pole. The park also provides good bowhunting opportunities for whitetail deer.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. One camping unit and 2 vehicles are covered by the camping fee. There is a $2 visitor fee for non-campers. Group shelters are only available to campers. An attendant is on duty and the campground telephone number is (334) 269-1053. THIS CAMPGROUND HAS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE SITES The park will be renovated in 2010/2011. Catoma loop will be closed for reservations from Jan 1, 2010 to Sept 30, 2010 (these dates are subject to change and/or be extended).. Please call the park for additional information.
