Description

Located in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains, approximately 20 miles from the town of Chilcoot, California. Frenchman Campground is in the Frenchman Lake Recreation Area. Popular activities include camping, hiking, boating, water skiing, fishing, and picnicking. There is a boat ramp and picnic area immediately adjacent to the campground. The California Department of Fish and Game sponsors free fishing days each year at this site, usually in April and September. There is an accessible fishing trail in this campground. Overflow camping area is available. Firewood is available for sale at the site.

Alerts and Important Information

A pet fee of $2 per pet will be collected upon arrival to the facility. Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. An additional fee will be collected on-site for extra vehicles. More information can be obtained by calling 1-530-258-7606

From Reno, Nevada travel north on Highway 395 to Highway 70, turn west on Highway 70 and travel 5 miles to Chilcoot, California. Turn north on Highway 284, travel 8 miles to the Frenchman Lake Reservoir, turn right, cross dam, and travel 1 mile to Frenchman Campground.
