FREEDOM POINT PICNIC AREA (MT), MTDescriptionFreedom Point is part of the Sheepshead Mountain Recreation Area which is open for picnics, games, hiking, fishing and enjoying nature. Groups can reserve the pavilion for special events. There is a watchable wildlife nature trail that provides access to Maney Lake, a small lake open to fishing. No boats are allowed on the lake. Alerts and Important InformationFreedom Point is part of Sheepshead Mountain Recreation Area, a great place for weddings, receptions, family, and other group picnics. You can reserve the pavilion from mid June through Labor Day. Sheepshead is an expanse of grassy meadows and sagebrush, with several streams and a small lake, all surrounded by lodgepole pine forest. The natural setting has been adapted with features and facilities which are accessible to almost everyone. Freedom Point has three large picnic tables in the pavilion with a grill and fireplace. It can accommodate approximately 30 people inside the pavilion. There are three additional tables outside, some with built-in grills. Water is available at the pavilion. Turn right off the ramp and go under overpass to Forest Service road #442 and continue driving for 6 miles. The Sheepshead Recreation Area is on your right.
