FORD CABIN (MT), MT

Description

Ford is available from May 25 through March 15 each year. The cabin is not available March 16 to May 24 yearly.

Ford Cabin is 45 miles north of Columbia Falls along the Wild and Scenic North Fork of the Flathead River. The cabin was built in 1922 by Ralph Thayer and was part of the Ford Ranger Station. The cabin is available May 25 to March 15. Ford has a propane stove, lights, heater, and a vault toilet. The party size is 6 with one double bed and two bunk beds. Please pack out what you brought including your garbage. Grizzly bears live in the area; store your food, beverages, coolers, and garbage inside the cabin. Pets are not allowed at Ford. Commercial use of the cabins is prohibited (outfitter guides, groups or organizations with compensated leaders/chaperones).


Water is not available, please bring your own drinking water.

Alerts and Important Information

Water is not available due to winter conditions. Please be prepared and bring your own.

Grizzly Bears live in the area, store your food, beverages, coolers, and garbage inside the cabin.
Pets and livestock are not allowed at the cabin.
Please Pack it in Pack it out including garbage.
Reservations can be made one day in advance and there is a three day maximum stay limit.
Clean the cabin when you leave and take your garbage.
Rental fee is $35 per night.

Refunds will not be given due to inclement weather, road conditions, too much or little snow, etc.
Office hours are Monday-Friday am to 4:30 pm, 406-387-3800. Check in and check out time is 2pm. The combination to the cabin will be on your letter of confirmation from NRRS.

Please help conserve propane by minimizing the lights you have on and keeping the thermostat to 55 when you are not in the cabin. Please refer to the over the snow motor vehicle use maps for designated snowmobile routes and play areas.

Cabin can only be reserved up to 180 days in advance. No Water Available. Please bring your own drinking water.

Ford Cabin is located 45 miles up the North Fork County Road 486. To find the North Fork Road take Nucleus Avenue north through Columbia Falls, turn east on Railroad Street at the stop sign, this becomes the North Fork Road as it travels over the railroad overpass. Travel on the North Fork Road to just north of the Whale Creek Road #318, turn right on Road #308 (approximately 11 miles north of Polebridge) following the signs to Ford Cabin; you will cross a small bridge and the cabin is on your right. The North Fork Road is gravel, rough in spots, and intermittently plowed during the winter months. 4 wheel drive and chains are recommended during winter.
