DUCK CREEK (UT), UTDescriptionThe Cedar City Ranger District will open Duck Creek campground for walk-in (first-come, first serve) camping by mid-May and close by September 30, weather permitting. Summer season reservations start on 6-9-08 and ends on 9-1-08. The campground's Loop A will remain open for dry camping (vault toilet, no water) until the snow falls. The Duck Creek campground is located 28 miles east of the town of Cedar City, Utah. It sits in a spruce forest, right next to Duck Lake and Duck Creek, which are popular fishing areas. (The lake and creek are NOT visible from the campground.) Popular attractions nearby include Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Excellent Biking, hiking, boating and ATVing opportunities are available for recreation. The Duck Creek Forest Service visitor center is just across the highway from the campground. Boat rental and boat launching are available at Navajo Lake 5 miles west of the Duck Creek campground. Food services, lodging, showers, groceries, gasoline, and laundry are available at the Duck Creek Village, 3 miles east of the campground. The campground has 85 single units, 2 double units (sites 45 & 62), 4 triple units (sites 58, 74, 90, & 91), 4 group units. (Only a portion of these sites are reservable) Facilities:
Parking Fees: For single and double units, the first vehicle is free, thereafter a fee of $6.00 is charged for each additional car. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationATV POLICY: Duck Creek campground has an ATV parking area on the northeast corner of LOOP D, between camp sites 89 and 90. This parking area is for ATV's only. The ATV parking lot is paved and has a fence around its perimeter. No trailers or vehicles with wheelbases greater than 50 inches will be allowed in the ATV parking area. ATV's will be allowed to park in the designated parking area and can access the Markagunt trail system from there. Ingress and egress to and from individual campsites with an ATV is not allowed. Unloading of ATV's anywhere in the campground but outside of the parking area is not allowed. All vehicles with a wheel-base greater than 50 inches must be hauled out of the campground. ATV's may be chained to the ATV parking lot fence is desired. If you have questions concerning the ATV policy, call the Cedar City Ranger district at 435-865-3200. Markagunt ATV Trail System: The Markagunt ATV Trail System map shows the designated trails that ATV's (defined below) may access on the Cedar City Ranger District. The Cedar City Ranger District strongly suggests that this map be used if any motorized recreation is done on the Cedar City Ranger District. Definition of Recreational Vehicles: All-Terrain Vehicle:- A type of off-highway vehicle that
travels on three or more low-pressure tires; has handle-bar steering; is
less than or equal to 50 inches in width; and has a seat designed to be
straddled by the operator.
Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV):- Any motor vehicle designed for or capable of cross-country travel on or immediately over land, water, sand, snow, ice, marsh, swampland, or other natural terrain. Wheelchair or Mobility Device:- A device including one that is battery-powered, that is designed solely for use by a mobility-impaired person for locomotion, and that is suitable for use in an indoor pedestrian area. A person whose disability requires use of a wheelchair or mobility device may use a wheelchair or mobility device that meets this definition anywhere foot travel is permitted.
