DIAMOND LAKE (OR), ORDescriptionThis campground opens near the middle of April, when the snow melts and remains open through October. All sites are available WITHOUT a reservation from April 10 (or when open) to June 13 and September 7 through October. Reservations are taken from June 13 through September 7. During the reservation season there are 145 campsites available for reservations, and 95 campsites available for first come, first serve. Diamond Lake Campground is located along the eastern shore of Diamond Lake. Nearest town is Roseburg, 85 miles to the west. Campground hosts are located at both ends of the campground. Entry point fee station is staffed 7 days a week during the summer. Amphitheater provides interpretive programs on Friday and Saturday evenings. The eleven mile paved bike trail runs through the campground. The nearby visitor center is staffed most days of the summer. Please see Alerts and Important Information below Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationStarting on September 8th, 2010, Diamond Lake campground will be closed to the public for the remainder of the season. The reconstruction of the gatehouse will place heavy machinery at the entrance of the campground. In addition, crews will be falling hazard trees throughout the campground. The FS closure is necessary to ensure public safety.
Both Thielsen View and Broken Arrow campgrounds, and the North End and South Shore boat ramps will remain open to meet demand.
Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This campground has first-come, first-served sites. Please register for the campsite during booth hours 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Getting There:Diamond Lake (OR)UMPQUA OR GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 43.16111, -122.13306 Located 80 miles east of Roseburg on Hwy 138, or 85 miles from Medford on Highways 62 and 230. The north entrance of Crater Lake National Park is 6 miles south of Diamond Lake.
