DAVIS LAKE CAMPGROUND (MS), MS

Description

Located 21 miles south of Tupelo, Mississippi, and 12 miles north of Houston, adjacent to Davis Lake. Terrain is hilly. Facilities provided include restrooms, a boat ramp, landing piers for water skiing, and a swimming beach. Temperatures are moderate to cool from March to May, and hot and humid from June to August. Cooling trend from September to November. Mid-summer nights are pleasant temperatures. Popular activities include Kid's Fishing Day in late May, swimming, picnicking, boating, fishing, bird watching, and water skiing. Pavilion available.

SITE AVAILABILITY 2010:

During peak season from May 1st - Sept 15th Campsites 2,4,5,7,10 & 18-25 are available on a first come-first serve bases and remaining campsites are open for reservations.
Prior to May 1st the entire facility is first come-first serve.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
There is a dump station.
Day Use Parking or Boat Launch is $5.00 per vehicle.
Quite hours are 10pm - 6am in camping areas.
No alcohol allowed.
Pets are NOT allowed on beach but are allowed in other areas but MUST be on a leash at all times.

  • Fishing is allowed in Davis Lake. Daily Limits are:
    • BASS: slot length limit: 18"-22"; Llimit: 5 per person (only 1 above 20") (All bass between 18"-22" in length must be returned to the water immediately).
    • BREAM: slot length limit: none; Limit: 25 per person
    • CRAPPIE: slot length limit: none; Limit: 30 per person
    • CATFISH: slot length limit: none; Limit: 5 per person
    • The new limits are posted around the Lake at all major access areas.

    There is a full time camp host located behind site 1. Our FS law officer usually patrols the area on weekends and at night and FS employees will be around the area during working hours. The County Sheriffs office will respond if needed.


    This campground have 13 first-come, first-served campsites.

    From Tupelo, drive south 17 miles on the Natchez Trace Parkway to the Davis Lake Recreation Area exit at milepost 243, right on Davis Lake Road and go 4 miles to the campground.
