Description

Click here for more detailed cabin information.

Cabin is a large multi-room structure built in 1969 as a Ranger District office. It is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, propane stove for heat (you must provide your own propane), and an outside toilet. Please remember to take your fuel container with you when you leave. The cabin does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own stove fuel, sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, matches, cooking gear, food, lantern, toilet paper, and garbage bags. A boat with oars is provided (boat uses a long shaft motor not provided). Please pull skiff up on dock and pull plug.
The cabin is situated on rolling terrain. A large muskeg extends several miles from the west side of the lake. The lake has resident populations of cutthroat, dolly varden, and sockeye salmon. Within an easy drive is the lower Thorne River, which is excellent for fishing and boating.

Alerts and Important Information

Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface. Please contact the local Forest Service Ranger District office for information prior to making reservations during these periods. Water should be treated or boiled prior to drinking. All garbage and food must be packed out.
Same day reservations are allowed for this cabin. The person holding the reservation for this cabin must be at least 18 years of age, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. There are NO discounts for Golden Age/Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed.
Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights October 1 - April 30. Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
