COGHILL LAKE CABIN (AK), AK

Description

Click here for more cabin information and maps.

New oil heaters will be installed 7/16/01 and users will be expected to provide their own #1 heating oil. The heaters can not be used for cooking, so users need to bring their own stove. This cabin is in rolling hills on the edge of a stand of trees with majestic mountains in the background. It offers a secluded getaway with much variety in scenery, vegetation, and wildlife. Fishing is excellent from the lakeshore, the stream, and the lagoon at the lake outlet. Salmonberries and blueberries are numerous near the cabin. There is a 3 mile trail to Port Wells, but brush is often thick. Wildlife includes black bears, Stika blacktailed deer, bald eagles, waterfowl, and river otter. Activities include fishing for sockeye (mid June-July), pink and chum (July-Aug) and Silver salmon (Aug-Sept) in Coghill River and Lake. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, an oil stove, bring #1 oil or kerosene for the oil stove (5 gallons will last 5 hours), and an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear, and food.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
