CLEAR LAKE CABIN LOOKOUT (OR), OR

Description

*Campground closed from June 1 to Oct 31*

Open from Jan 1-May 31 & Nov 1-Dec 31. Clear Lake Lookout sits at the 4454 foot elevation on FS road 42-240 spur.. The 14' X 14' cabin sits atop a 40 foot Tower. You'll park at the sno-park and ski/snowshoe/snowmobile into the facility. The road will be groomed to the lookout. It is approximately 3.2 miles to the lookout from the snowpark. You will need to purchase a sno-park permit to park at Skyline Sno-park. These can be purchased at several locations in the Portland area or at CJ's on Hwy 26, west of the intersection of Hwy 26 and FS road 42.

Alerts and Important Information

The time frame for skiing into Clear Lake Lookout is approximately 3 ½ to 4 ½ hours. BE PREPARED for EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS. This is a good ski for moderate skiers. Please call Barlow Ranger District Office at 541-467-2291 for combination, 4 days prior to your arrival.

Location: NW ¼ NW ¼, Sec. 7, T.5S, R9E., W.M., Clackamas County, Oregon. Check your map to locate the normal access beginning at the junction of Hwy 26 and FS road 42, Skyline Sno-park. Proceed on road 42 to the 240 spur road and on to the lookout. The evelation climb is about 900'.
