COLDWATER CAMPGROUND (CA), CA

Description

Located in the eastern high Sierras of California near the town of Mammoth Lakes, this pine forest campground sits at an elevation of 8,900 feet. There is creek side camping with easy access to fishing at Lake Mary and hiking on major trailheads into the backcountry. Pressurized water spigots and flush toilets are located throughout the campground. Picnic tables, fire rings, and bear boxes are provided at each campsite.

This facility is operated by California Land Management dba Inyo Recreation. Your comments are appreciated; comment forms are available from campground hosts or directly at www.clm-services.com.

  • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
  • Bears are frequently seen in this area.
  • All visitors are required to keep food and other items that might attract bears locked inside bear proof containers, when provided. Otherwise, lock these items inside hard bodied vehicles such as car, RV, or trailers. The camphost has bear awareness literature.
  • Bear area. Food locker on site.
  • No showers are available at this campground.
  • No electric available on any sites

Campground is 320 miles north of Los Angeles and 180 miles south of Reno. From Los Angeles take US 395 north to the junction of state highway 203. From highway 203 it will be 7 miles through the town of Mammoth Lakes and continuing on Lake Mary Road to the Coldwater Campground cutoff.
