CABIN CREEK A-FRAME (ID), ID

Description

Open June 30 - October 31.

Park at a locked gate and walk-in two miles on an old logging road to the A-frame (no motorized vehicles allowed). Elevation is 6,400 feet. Located in a lodgepole stand on the edge of a grassy meadow the A-frame has a wood stove, firewood, broom, axe, fire extinguisher, table, two chairs, six mattresses and a shovel. You will need to supply your own dishes, utensils, cookware and drinking water. An outhouse is located nearby. The maximum capacity for the cabin is six people and cost is $20/night. There are two single beds in the ground level and four single mattresses in the loft which is reached by ladder. No linens or bedding provided. There may be fire restrictions in summer months.

Cabin Creek A-Frame: Traveling from Salmon, Id., it's a 5 mile drive south on Hwy. 93 to Shoup bridge and a right hand turn on to forest road #021. Continue for 44.5 mi. to the Cobalt workcenter facilities. Its only another 9 miles south on Panther Creek to Cabin Creek and another .5 miles to a right hand turn and a Forest Service gate.

After parking at the locked gate, it's a 2 mile walk on an old logging road to the A-frame cabin.
