Winter travelers need to be able to evaluate avalanche and over-ice travel conditions.Open to over-snow motorized vehicles from December 1 to April 30 every other winter season beginning with the winter of 2007/2008. Closed to motorized vehicles every other winter season beginning with the 2008/2009 winter season. Closed to horse/pack stock from 4/1 to 6/30. Three consecutive days maximum per person from 5/15 through 8/31. No commercial use. The person holding the reservation must be 18. Maximum group size allowed is 8. Treat or boil water before consumption. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, a woodstove for heat (wood not furnished), and an outhouse. It sleeps 4 comfortably, and a maximum group size of 8. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags and pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food. Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone. If you cancel a cabin reservation within 14 days of your scheduled arrival date, you will be charged the $10.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's recreation use fee. No-shows, Early Departures, or Cancellations after the scheduled arrival date, are not entitled to a refund. Cancellations for single night use for Alaska cabins will not be assessed a service fee. All garbage and food must be packed out. Occasionally poor weather can cause travel delays, and cabin users need to be prepared.Getting There:Caribou Creek Cabin (AK)334 FOURTH AVE Seward AK 99664 GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 60.78389, -149.6775 Access trail by Resurrection Pass North Trailhead, at milepost 4 of Resurrection Creek Road. Hike 7 miles to the cabin. In winter, add one extra mile of travel as Resurrection Creek Road is not plowed to the trailhead. Access trail by Resurrection Pass South Trailhead, at milepost 53.2 of Sterling Highway.
