CABIN CREEK CABIN (MT), MT

Description

Cabin Creek Cabin was built in the 1930's by the Civil Conservation Corp. The cabin is located in a high elevation, alpine forest. Cabin Creek Cabin has rustic accommodations, including a wood stove and vault toilet. The maximum party size for the cabin is 4 people. The cabin has one room with a set of bunks and 3 fold-out cots, wood (heat) stove, dishes, pots and pans, ax, shovel, broom, mop, table and chairs. There is no electricity or water. Visitors should bring their own equipment, including a camp stove, lanterns (please no candles), toilet paper, bedding/padding, and pillow. NO FIREWOOD PROVIDED. During the winter months, renters should haul firewood as there is very limited firewood available to gather. Summer access is approximately 6 miles by hiking, horseback or OHV. Winter access it about 12 miles over snow. WITHIN FACILITY:

Alerts and Important Information

Must be 18 years or older to rent cabin. Grizzly bears frequent the area; store your food, beverage, coolers, garbage, etc. inside the cabin. There is no electricity/water/sewer site hookups at this cabin. Please bring your own drinking water. Hay brought in must be certified weed free. Bring garbage bags as this facility is "Pack it in. Pack it out." Check-in time is 2:00pm and check-out time is 11:00am. For the cabin combination, call the Hebgen Lake Ranger District at (406) 823-6961 between 8am to 4:30pm on the last business day (Mon thru Fri) before your date of arrival. (Office is closed for Federal Holidays.) Winter Travelers: Cabin access can be difficult in the winter months. Frequent, heavy snowfall, wind and low visibility hinder access to and from the cabin and trail signs often get buried in the blowing snow. Winter travelers should travel with a minimum of two people and should be familiar with the area and traveling in avalanche terrain. Cabin reservations can only be made up to 180 days in advance; minimum reservation window is 3 days, for inquiries within the minimum window contact the Ranger District.

Summer Access: Travel 10 miles north of West Yellowstone on Hwy 191, turn left on the Tepee Creek Rd No. 986, and travel 6.5 miles to the trailhead; then hike, horseback or OHV approx.6 miles to the cabin. Winter Access: From Hwy 191, approx.12 miles by snowmobile or skis along the Big Sky Snowmobile Trail. There is no parking at the junction of Hwy 191 and the Tepee Creek Rd. Parking for the Big Sky Snowmobile trail is at Fir Ridge, approx.9 miles north of West Yellowstone on Hwy 191, on right side of Hwy.
