BUTTE LAKE (CA), CADescriptionButte Lake Campground is located in the north eastern part of the park and is 45 minutes from the main park road. It is within walking distance of remote Butte Lake. The area is dominated by large Ponderosa Pines and volcanic soils. The lake has a large black lava flow running out into the lake creating an interesting area for kayaks and canoes to explore. The main trailhead for hiking to Cinder Cone, The Painted Dunes, and Snag Lake is located in the Day Use Area.Elevation: 6,100' For more information: www.nps.gov/lavo Services & Amenities:
