Entry to the cabin is by combination lock. Please call the Powers Ranger District office at 541.439.6200 4 days prior to your arrival to confirm your combination or to request directions and a map. The office is open Monday thru Friday from 7:30 to 4:30 and closed on weekends and holidays. There is a 3 day minimum advance window for reservations. There is no potable water at this site. Visitors must bring plenty of water for drinking, cooking and washing. Please bring your own garbage bags and clean the facility before you leave. This is a "Pack it in, Pack it out" site. Please bring sleeping bags/bedding, as well as a flashlight or lantern for emergencies, first aid kit, washcloths and towels, and dish soap. All Forest Service Cabin Rentals are No Smoking facilities. Please contact the Ranger District prior to arriving at the cabin/lookout rental to check on any restrictions or conditions, such as fire or road closures, weather or storms, etc., that may affect the quality of your visit.

Bald Knob Lookout (OR) 42861 HWY 242 Powers OR 97466 The lookout can be reached by driving south from the Powers Ranger District office on highway 242 through the town of Powers to the Forest boundary. Continue on Forest Service Road (FSR) 33 along the South Fork of the Coquille River for approximately 11.5 miles to the junction of FSR 3348. Travel up FSR 3348 approximately 2 miles to the junction of FSR 5520. Turning right, the pavement ends. Take FSR 5520 for two miles, then turn right on FSR 5520020 and follow this spur road approximately two miles until you reach a gate. Go through the gate and continue through a second gate until reaching the end of the lookout road. Approximately 15 miles south of Powers, Oregon
