BERNERS BAY CABIN (AK), AK

Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, oil stove for heat and an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Oil stove uses #1 stove oil (#1 diesel) and kerosene with them to be supplied by user. For a list of stove oil suppliers for the Juneau area call (907)586-8800. Fuel consumption is approx. 1 gallon per day with stove on low setting. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. The person holding the reservation must be 18. No commercial use allowed. From 5/1 to 9/30 the maximum length of reservation is 7 days. From 10/1 to 4/30 the maximum length of reservation is 10 days. There are NO discounts for Golden Age and Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.

You may reserve this cabin on the day of arrival, or up to 180 days in advance.

Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this.
Brown and black bears frequent the area.
Mooring buoy tackle goes dry at 0ft. low tide. Consult your local tide tables.
All water should be boiled.
Open fires in fire ring only.
Collect dead/down wood only.
Cabin is primitive, no amenities except oil stove and outhouse. All garbage and food must be packed out.

Restrictions: Be sure to secure small watercraft above high tide line.

Activities: Hiking, hunting, boating.

Proximity: Large bay off Lynn Canal, cabin is south of mouth of Antler River. Beautiful scenery, view of Chilkat Mountains.

Wildlife: Marine mammals, waterfowl, black bear, brown bear, moose.
