BASIN STATION CABIN (MT), MT

Description

The Basin Station Cabin is a two room structure. It is located approximately 9 miles west of West Yellowstone, MT; the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is open year-round and located in the Madison River Valley. It can be driven to during non-snow months as it is adjacent to a heavily travelled county road. Winter access is by snowmobile or cross country skiing/snowshoeing the 2 miles from US Highway 20. Access to Hebgen Lake is located approximately 2 miles north of the cabin with a public boat launch and adjacent Forest Service campground. Maximum party size for the cabin is 4 people. It is a rustic cabin with no electricity or plumbing/water. There is one double bed and one set of bunk beds. There are no mattresses, just a wooden sleeping platform. There is a wood heating stove in the bedroom and wood cooking stove in the kitchen area, table and chairs, basic cooking pots and pans, dishes, an axe, shovel, broom, and mop. Visitors should bring their own cooking stove, drinking water, lantern (no candles allowed), toilet paper, bedding/pillow, and garbage bags. The cabin has no garbage receptacles; you are required to pack out what you pack in. There is an outhouse located just north of the cabin. Firewood is provided for use in the stoves.

The rental fee is $30 per night for a maximum of 7 nights. Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance. For additional information or last minute reservations (within 3 days of arrival), call 406-823-6961 or go to the Hebgen Lake Ranger District office Mon.-Fri. during regular business hours.

Alerts and Important Information

Must be 18 years or older to rent cabin. Grizzly bears frequent the area; store your food, beverages, coolers, garbage, etc. inside the cabin. There is no electricity, water or sewer system at this cabin. This facility is "Pack in - Pack out" managed; therefore, you are responsible to haul out what you brought in. Check-in time is 2:00pm and check-out time is 11:00am. For the cabin combination, call the Hebgen Lake Ranger District at (406) 823-6961 between 8am and 4:30pm on the last business day (Mon thru Fri) before your date of arrival. (Office is closed on Federal Holidays.) Winter Travelers: The Denny Creek Road is not plowed so access is limited. ** 3 day minimum reservation window ** Cabin reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance; however, for cabin availability within the next three days please contact the Ranger District.

From West Yellowstone • Summer: Proceed west on US Hwy 20 for approximately 6.5 miles. Turn right on the Denny Creek Rd. Proceed approximately 2 miles north. The cabin is located on the right side of the road.
• Winter: Proceed west on US HWY 20 for approximately 6.5 miles. Turn right on the Denny Creek Rd. Parking is along the Denny Creek Rd. where it meets US HWY 20. Do not block access to the fire station or residences along the road. Proceed the 2 miles to the cabin by skiing, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing.
