ST. CHARLES CAMPGROUND (ID), IDDescriptionSt. Charles campground is located approximately 3 miles west of the highway 89, Forest road #412 junction. It is located adjacent to St. Charles creek and is accessed by a paved road, Forest road #412. There are 5 single family units with back in parking and 1 reservable group unit site. The campground is bordered by a pole fence with aspen and scattered lodgepole pines. The side bordering St. Charles creek is populated with willows, dogwoods, wild roses and Engelmann spruce trees. The sites are screened well from one another by the varied vegetation. The campground is located approximately 8 miles west of Bear Lake State Park and North Beach, one of the main lake access areas for swimming, boating, fishing, and associated water sports. Forest road #412 also accesses Minnetonka cave, one of only two developed caves in the Forest Service. Guided cave tours are scheduled every half hour every day of the week from approximately the 10th of June until Labor Day. Also within St. Charles canyon is the North Fork of St. Charles and its associated trails which access the Highline Trail, #316, a National Trail Systems trail and the premier trail of the Montpelier Ranger District. This trail stretches for 55 miles, following the backbone of the Wasacth Mountains, and has some of the most breathtaking vistas in the Rocky Mountains. This trail can be accessed by foot, horse, mountain bike, motorcycle or ATV and attracts trail users from around the world.Services & Amenities:

(Latitude, Longitude): 42.11361, -111.44639 Approximately 17 miles south of Montpelier, Idaho on Highway 89, is the small community of St. Charles, Idaho. On the north edge of St. Charles is the junction of Highway 89 and Forest road #412, St. Charles Canyon. Turn west onto Forest road #412 and travel approximately 3 miles to the forest boundary, go around the bend and you are at the entrance to St. Charles campground.
