Description

Located on a ridge rising steeply above the Kickapoo River in Wisconsin's driftless area. The park offers camping for families, groups and riders with horses. Canoes can be rented in the village of Ontario. Picnic areas, shelters, hiking, cross-country ski, horse riding and nature trails are featured. Observation point is 1200 feet above sea level. Trout fishing in Billings Creek, Cheyenne Creek and the Kickapoo River is popular. Nature building offers displays and information to visitors. Shower building and dump station for all campers is near the family campground.

  • Vehicle admission stickers are required.
  • Horse and Group Camps Open May 1 - November 15 each year.
  • Horse Camp:
    • Campers must have horse to book these sites.
    • Horse sites 001H, 002H, 003H, 010H, 012H, 015H, 016H, 017H, 019H, and 020H are electrical and cost an extra $5.00 per night.
  • Family and Group Camp = No Horse Campers.
  • Family and Horse Camp = Only 1 wheeled camper unit per campsite.
  • Pets must be leashed (under 8') and attended at all times.

    WINTER CAMPING: Family campsites 1-30 are on 1st come / 1st served basis. All other sites are closed to camping after reservations dates.

  • 2008:
    • Family campsites 1-30 reservations 05/01/08 - 10/31/08.
    • Horse camping reservations 05/01/08 to 10/31/08.
      • 1st come / 1st served 11/01 - 11/15 each year.
    • Group sites reservations (1-3) 05/01/08 - 10/31/08.
      • 1st come / 1st served 11/01 - 11/15 each year.

  • Family Camp = No Horses Allowed.
  • Group Camp Shelter is to be shared by all three group sites.
  • All sites except Group Camp: Two vehicles permitted per site. Additional vehicles use overflow parking areas nearby. Vehicle admission stickers are required.Click here for cost of the sticker.
  • All Sites: Showers, Dump Station & Flush Toilets CLOSED, Oct. 15 - May 1, each year.
  • To clarify the area of the park you will be in, a letter designation has been added to the site numbers: H for Horse and G for Group. Reservations cannot be cancelled online.

    Family Campsites are located three miles east of Ontario, off Hwy 33.

    Horse Campsites are located one mile east of Ontario, take Taylor Valley Road to Horse camp.

    HORSE CAMPERS PLEASE DRIVE DIRECTLY TO HORSE CAMPSITE - RANGER OR CAMP HOST WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU THERE - DO NOT DRIVE UP THE HILL TO THE MAIN PARK OFFICE WITH A TRAILER LOADED WITH ANIMALS.
